What I Would Send an Accountant After Converting Statements

What this note is about

A clean handoff is not a giant mixed folder. It is the original PDFs paired with checked XLS files and clear dates.

The PDF and XLS both have a job

The PDF is the source document. The XLS is the working file. I would not send one and throw away the other.

The value of conversion is that the accountant can sort, total, reconcile, and classify rows without manually copying from the statement.

Do not merge too early

Keep each account and period separate until the rows have been checked. One statement, one converted spreadsheet, one clear date range.

It is much easier to combine clean files later than to untangle a workbook where unrelated accounts were mixed too soon.
